Expungements & More in Michigan City
If you’ve already been convicted of a crime, there are still many options to consider that can lessen the negative impact on your life.
Specialized Driving Privileges
Are you missing out on job opportunities because your license is suspended? Is your family suffering because your license is suspended?
In 2016, the Indiana legislature enacted a new law that made it possible for some people who had driver’s license suspensions to be eligible to seek Specialized Driving Privileges. If your license is currently suspended due to:
- court order from a criminal conviction,
- failing a chemical test,
- habitual traffic violations,
- lack of liability insurance,
- child support issues, or
- being forfeited for life,
please contact Pejic Law Group, P.C. to determine if you are eligible to apply for specialized driving privileges.
Expungements
Is your prior arrest and/or criminal conviction record holding you back? Have you ever been terminated from a good job after your employer found out about your criminal record? With the exception of a conviction for a crime of domestic violence, would you like to legally own or possess a firearm?
In 2013, the Indiana legislature enacted new laws that made it possible for a person to expunge or restrict access to their prior arrest and criminal conviction record.
Restoration of Rights
Would you like to legally own and possess a firearm? Would you like to legally vote? Would you like to legally be eligible to serve on a jury?
If you have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence, Pejic Law Group, P.C. can also help you restore your constitutional right to possess a firearm.
If you are interested in getting a new and fresh start in life, contact Pejic Law Group, P.C. to see if you are eligible for expungement and/or restoration of rights!
Modification of Sentence
In some cases, a person serving a jail sentence may be eligible to request the Court to modify their sentence. If you were sentenced by the Court or if your plea agreement contained a provision permitting you to seek a sentence modification, you may currently be eligible for a sentence modification.
If you are interested in a sentence modification, please contact an attorney sooner rather than later. Even if you are eligible to request a sentence modification, it does not require the court to modify your sentence. It simply means you may file a request for modification. Please consult an attorney immediately. An attorney will help guide you through the process to put you in the best possible position to modify your sentence. The trial court judge has broad discretion as to whether or not to grant your petition to modify. Therefore, it is important to make sure you are in the best position to make such a request.
If you or a loved one are interested in a sentence modification, please contact the Pejic Law Group, P.C. to determine if you are eligible for modification.
Misdemeanor Treatment
Were you convicted of a Class D or Level 6 Felony? If so, you may be eligible to convert or enter your felony conviction to a Class A Misdemeanor.
If you are interested in reducing your Class D or Level 6 Felony conviction, please contact Pejic Law Group.
